Our hands-on equipment is built from many materials. These materials are chosen for durability, weight, maintenance, ease of use and are readily available for us to use. We build our own equipment and select all the materials when we build the equipment in-house, at Taskworks. We discuss these aspects and why we use certain materials in the making of our equipment.
Physical samples of metals, rubbers, plastics, timber and composites are handed around to the children during the discussion part of the incursion.
The children are organised in groups and are free to touch and explore our tactile equipment.
- Build a Train, a Robot, a Go Kart or a mechanical creature. Look at the aluminium and composite parts that are used to insure the creatures parts and robots arms are lightweight.
- Watch how children are amazed at the interaction between certain materials and magnets on our Iron Filings Table and Friction Board.
- Look at how we use special lubricatants on the sprockets, chains and bearings that drive our STEM Train. The lubrication is designed to adhere to the chain and to allow easy movement.

School Groups and Holiday Programs:
- $13.50 per child plus GST
Minimum Charge:
- 1 Session- $650 plus GST
- 2 Sessions- $900 plus GST
Please note: A $1.00 per child travel surcharge may apply depending on your school’s location.
Session Duration:
Generally a session runs for two hours. A minimum of 1 ½ hours per session is required.
Session Times:
- 9:00 am – 11 am
- 11:30 am – 1:30 pm
- 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm (small groups only)
Note: These times can be varied to suit schools requirements.
